GEORGE LEE was born 27 May 1832 in Hartland, Hartford Co., Connecticut, son and fourth child of Sardis and Harriet (Spelman) Lee. He was a resident of Granville, Hampden Co., Massachusetts in 1860 and 1870; Westfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts in 1850 and 1880, and 1920; and Southwick, Hampden Co., Massachusetts in 1900 and 1910. George’s marriage to Catharine, daughter of Zenas Hart, was recorded in Westfield, vital records on 4 September 1851. He was 31 and she was 19 years old. They were born in Hartland, Connecticut and Granville, Massachusetts, respectively; first marriage for both. The couple had at least three children, all born in Granville in the 1850s — by 1865, they had separated. George died in Westfield, 15 December 1920, and was buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, there.
In October and November 2007, a two-part article about the Lee family appeared in Southwoods: A Journal for Country Living. It has much more information about George and his siblings.
